Job Description Job Description Estimator I – Elevation Flooring Position Summary The Estimator I is an entry-level position at Elevation Flooring , responsible for supporting the estimating department with bid coordination, material takeoffs, administrative tasks, and project documentation. This role helps ensure the accurate and timely delivery of bids while learning core estimating skills, workflows, and industry knowledge. The Estimator I works closely with Estimators, Project Managers, Sales, and Operations, serving as a foundational member of the estimating team and a key contributor to Elevation Flooring’s bidding efficiency and accuracy. Key Responsibilities Bid Coordination Track and organize incoming bid invitations, RFQs, and project documents from clients and platforms like Building Connected, Procore, or email submissions. Download, label, and distribute project drawings, specifications, and addenda to the appropriate team members. Maintain and update the bid calendar, ensuring deadlines, walkthroughs, and due dates are clear and communicated. Assist with pre-bid RFI submission and document management. Communicate with general contractors, vendors, and internal departments regarding required documents, deadlines, and clarifications. Estimating Support Assist estimators with quantity takeoffs using Elevation Flooring’s approved takeoff software under supervision. Gather vendor pricing, material quotes, and product data sheets as directed by senior estimators. Help prepare proposal forms, bid sheets, alternates, and supporting documentation. Compare drawings and addenda to identify changes in scope or updates to project requirements. Support the team in reviewing specifications to understand flooring scope, finish schedules, and project requirements. Document & Data Management Maintain organized project folders, file naming conventions, and bid documentation according to Elevation Flooring standards. Assist with updating pricing databases, vendor catalogs, and material libraries as needed. Track bid outcomes, distribute win/loss notifications internally, and support recordkeeping for estimating metrics. Learning & Development Build foundational skills in flooring systems, materials, installation methods, and substrate preparation. Develop proficiency in takeoff tools such as MeasureSquare or RFMS Measure. Receive training in reading architectural drawings, interpreting specifications, and understanding commercial construction workflows. Work toward independently estimating smaller, lower-risk projects as experience grows. Required Qualifications 0–2 years of experience in construction, estimating, architecture, commercial flooring, or related field (internship or coursework considered). Basic understanding of construction drawings or willingness to learn. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficiency with computers, PDFs, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel). Good written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with construction management platforms (Building Connected, Procore, Bluebeam, etc.). Coursework or degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, business, or related field. Interest in developing a long-term career in commercial flooring estimating.
