We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our estimating department and play a key role in the continued success of our projects and partnerships. Position Summary The Estimator is responsible for leading the estimating function at George Moehrle Masonry, Inc. This position develops accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial masonry projects, manages the bid process from start to finish, and ensures estimates align with company goals and project execution strategies. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial masonry projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors. Perform quantity takeoffs from architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and site visits. Manage the full bid process. Including pre-bid meetings, subcontractor solicitation, scope clarifications, and bid submission. Review subcontractor and supplier quotes for accuracy and competitiveness. Compile general conditions, overhead, and profit into final bid packages. Collaborate with Project Managers, Operations, and Executive Leadership to align estimates with project delivery strategy. Analyze bid results, including win/loss ratios, pricing trends, and competitor positioning. Oversee, train, and mentor junior estimators while establishing department standards and best practices. Prepare and price change orders, scope revisions, and additional work requests. Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, architects, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors. Qualifications Required: Proven success in bidding and securing medium to large commercial projects. Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and material costs. Proficiency in estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, ProEst). Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and bid documents. Excellent math, analytical, and cost modeling skills. Strong communication and negotiation abilities. Experience leading or mentoring junior estimators. Ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience). Experience with government/public work bidding and private negotiated contracts. Experience with post-bid analysis, cost tracking, and forecasting. Working Conditions Primary location: Frederick, MD headquarters (office-based). Occasional travel to project sites, pre-bid meetings, and client offices. Monday–Friday schedule (40 hours per week); extended hours during peak bid periods.
