Job Description:

The Air Traffic Organization (ATO) has 35,000 controllers, technicians, engineers, and support personnel whose daily efforts keep aircraft safe, separated, and on time. Air Traffic Services provides safe, secure, and efficient management for the National Airspace System and international airspace assigned to U.S. control. We are responsible for more than 5 million square miles of airspace in the U.S. and over 24 million square miles over oceans.As a basic requirement for entry into the FAA Executive System, you must clearly articulate and describe within your five (5) page resume evidence of progressively responsible leadership experience indicative of senior executive-level management capability, directly related to the skills and abilities outlined under the Leadership and Technical Requirements below.In addition to minimum qualifications, the following are considered selective factors essential for this position. Applicants must possess these criteria to be considered further:

• Leadership Requirement: Do you have experience achieving operational results? Provide examples of leadership in delivering significant results, establishing goals, assessing outcomes, and improving products and services. Include how you identified and met customer requirements and addressed stakeholder needs. Describe complex problems solved or obstacles overcome, including (1) organization size and complexity, (2) scope of programs managed, and (3) impact on customers and stakeholders.
• Leadership Requirement: Do you have experience leading people? Describe the organization size, number and types of positions managed, and ways you have established positive work environments, mentored employees, and built team performance. Include experience leading teams in a matrix environment across organizations.
• Leadership Requirement: Do you have experience building relationships? Describe the types of individuals you collaborate with, the purpose and outcomes of communications, and how you built consensus and gained cooperation despite competing priorities. Explain how you communicate effectively within and outside your organization.
• Leadership Requirement: Do you have experience leading strategic change? Provide examples of strategic changes you led, affected entities, obstacles encountered, and how you overcame them. Discuss your application of vision, strategy development, and innovative techniques.
• Technical Requirement: Experience leading, managing, and setting strategic direction for an aviation organization responsible for developing and implementing policies, standards, and procedures governing all aspects of air traffic operations.
