Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 04/06/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview - Shift: Days, 3x12hrs - Hours: 36 hrs/wk - Start Date: Apr 6, 2026 - Length: 13 weeks - Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at an academic medical center in Washington, DC, requiring an active DC RN license and at least 2 years of Med/Surg Tele experience. Details - 16-bed Plastic Surgery and Limb Salvage unit with all-private rooms in a hospital setting - Patient population includes complex post-operative cases such as reconstructive plastic surgery, diabetic limb salvage with reconstructive flaps, and complex wound management - Patient ratio of 1:6 - Continuous pulse oximetry monitoring available on the unit - Cerner EMR used on this unit - Rotating day and night shifts (3x12s); shifts can rotate between days and nights within the same week or over several weeks — flexibility is essential - Day shift: 7:00–19:30 | Night shift: 19:00–7:30 - Every other weekend rotation required - No on-call requirements - Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity Requirements - Active DC RN license, must be in hand at time of consideration - Current BLS certification required - Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele or Surg/Tele experience required - Experience with wound care, wound vac, and surgical drains required - Cerner charting experience required - Must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum overall score of 80% and 100% on lethal rhythms - Candidates with fewer than 4 years of experience must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment - 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration - Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration Additional Information - Works collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team including Nurse Practitioners, physicians, physical therapists, and clinical pharmacists - Flu vaccine required - May come in contact with COVID-19 patients - Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are subject to a local pay rate - Any time-off or scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial application American Traveler Job ID P-675073.
