Join a leading teaching hospital and advance your travel nursing career in a collaborative orthopedic unit./n /n/nJob Details/n /n - Location: Washington, DC 20007 – Georgetown neighborhood (Washington DC nursing jobs, Georgetown nursing jobs)/n - Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,680 - $1,770 per week/n - Assignment Type: Travel Contract (travel nurse role)/n - Unit: Main 6 Ortho / Med-Surg / Telemetry (orthopedic unit, telemetry)/n - Start Date: April 13, 2026/n - End Date: July 13, 2026/n - Duration: 13 weeks/n - Shifts: 3 x 12-hour day shifts (07:00 – 19:30)/n - Hours per Week: 36/n - Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (50% weekends required)/n - Call Requirement: Yes, in rotation with unit staff/n - Float Requirement: Required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity/n - Patient Ratio: 1:5–6/n - Charting / EMR: Cerner EMR/n - Orientation: 48 hours/n /n/nJob Requirements / Qualifications/n /n - Registered Nurse (RN) with active DC RN license (pending accepted with proof at submission; license must be in hand prior to start)/n - Minimum 1.5 years recent acute care nursing experience (1.5–2 years travel experience preferred)/n - Unit accepts first-time travelers (minimum 4 years nursing experience required if first-time traveler)/n - Current BLS from AHA (American Heart Association)/n - BSN preferred/n - Experience caring for orthopedic surgical patients strongly preferred (total joint replacements, spine surgery, postop care)/n - Telemetry experience and comfort with monitoring cardiac rhythms preferred/n - Willingness to float to similar or lower acuity units and participate in call rotation/n - Excellent teamwork, communication, and patient education skills/n /n/nKey Responsibilities/n /n - Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries and complex medical diagnoses (postoperative orthopedic care)/n - Monitor, assess, and document patient status and progress using Cerner EMR/n - Administer medications, manage IV therapy, and perform safe blood product administration/n - Manage pain control including PCA pumps, epidural and perineural PCA pumps, and titration of high-risk drips (e.g., heparin) per protocol/n - Perform telemetry monitoring and early recognition of clinical changes in post-op orthopedic patients/n - Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care (care coordination with physicians, NPs, PAs, case managers)/n - Adhere to isolation precautions, infection control policies, and hospital safety protocols/n - Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed to support patient care/n - Provide thorough patient and family education on post-surgical recovery, discharge planning, and home care instructions/n /n/n Apply now to join our travel nursing team in Washington, DC.
